The magic of Advent and the Christmas market

Middle of November until mid December

In December this ‘medieval’ wine township of Cochem, perhaps puts on its most romantic dress: in all its superior glory the Reichsburg (Reichs Castle) glows in the beams of a thousand lights. The scent of cinnamon, vanilla and confectionary drifts through the winding half-timbered house alleyways. On the festively decorated, wooden huts on the Christmas market place one is able to buy extravagent personal usage and decorative items, as well as memorabilia. A feeling of ‘uniqueness’ pervades, further enhanced by ‘high-spirited’ chatter and a beaker of mulled wine.
