Pommern is one of the oldest wine-growing villages on the Moselle. Historical finds show evidence of Celtic settlements more than 2000 years ago.

The Gallo-Roman temple complex Martberg is situated approx. 180 metres above the Moselle. The shrine was dedicated to the god Lenus Mars, who was worshipped there and lent the Martberg its name. During its heyday (around AD 200) this cult complex included several temples. The Romans also grew wine and Mediterranean fruit here, which is where the wine-growing village Pommern got its name from: POMARIA - the fruit garden.

Wine-growing still gives the village its character today. When you visit Pommern don't forget to pay the wine-growers a visit and try their wines and high-quality sparkling wines. In Pommern you can enjoy a holiday in the country, wine and culture, and lots more.
