Mesenich

If you had walked along the Moselle from Senheim to Mesenich around 150 years ago, you would have seen many sizeable piles of stones in the vineyards, known as “Steinräuschen”.

As no other community had so many Steinräuschen as there were in Mesenich, and there was hardly any other place that was so rich in stones, the inhabitants of the area gave the people of Mesenich the name "Mesenicher-Steinreichskäpp".

Sculptures of former inhabitants of the village can be seen along the trail. In the Germany-wide competition “Unser Dorf hat Zukunft” ("Our village has a future") Mesenich was awarded a gold medal at regional level.
