Valwig/Valwigerberg

Aussicht auf Valwig

Valwig has Celtic origins, making it one of the oldest places along the Moselle.

The 500 inhabitants live in the two village areas of Valwig and Valwigerberg. With its narrow streets and corners, the village is rich in architectural monuments from the last few centuries. The vineyards above Valwig are home to the Mountain Apollo, a species of butterfly that has a predilection for warm climates and is usually only to be found in Alpine areas.

Valwig has won awards for its exemplary ecological projects and was the regional winner in the competition “Unser Dorf soll schöner werden – Unser Dorf hat Zukunft” ("Our village should become more beautiful - Our village has a future").
